I monitor several events during my day, and create calendar items and to-do entries, so I will remember to give more attention to what I want to say or learn and when I need to get started. Modern digital devices offer many choices in how you record your thoughts and make notes about what you need to do next. If you decide to act on a thought, you can keep track of the steps you have taken. If you decide a thought is not important you can delete it or modify the thought for further consideration.
