Welcome to Antonyms. Meriam Webster dictionary defines antonym asa word of opposite meaning. The common example is the antonym of good is bad. I think a good antonym for progress is congress.

In the spirit of the domain name, this website is a place for me to try and do something to open my eyes and hopefully yours to what is going on in our country and around the globe. I will only change this site when inspiration strikes me.

For the last couple of years, I have watched a time where America has become more divided than I have ever seen in my life. My biggest concern is we seem to have forgotten how to think for ourselves. Too often today many American folks blindly believe what they think by what they read or hear from an amazing number of news providers, politicians, celebrities and social media. What has happened to common sense and compromise? Where is the new Walter Cronkite and Paul Harvey when we need them? Have we become so lazy and apathetic we allow our opinions to be directed by people who make their living by the number of us folks who listen to their opinions without verifying if they are telling the truth? One of my favorite idioms is: “the biggest fear of politicians, the lawyers who tell them what to think and their ad agency advisors, is a quick discovery of the truth”

Folks is defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary as: “the great proportion of the members of a people that determines the group character and that tends to preserve its characteristic form of civilization and its customs, arts and crafts, legends, traditions, and superstitions from generation to generation. Folks are rarely considered until election time by our politicians. Then they bombard us with rhetoric and cater to people who don’t take the time to fact check what they say. Many times, they tell us one thing and then after they are elected, they do what they want without regard to what they told us to get elected.

My primary concern is for the common folks in the United States of America. I have almost no respect for most of our elected officials. I try my best to not be persuaded by political partisanship and propaganda. Are you aware of where most people get their news? To see some information, check out this article from the Pew Research Center:

I like to read information from Pew Research Center because I think they try to present verifiable information that can be checked if you know how to use the search box on your preferred digital search provider.

From now on when I am in a voter’s booth, I will find it hard to vote for any incumbent unless they have proved they care about common folks.

Yes and No.
