America is a problem needing a solution

Problem: Politicians represent themselves and their political contributors not their constituents. Solution: Vote them out of office at first opportunity, and never let any politician at any government level serve more than two terms. Never re-elect anyone who fails to fulfill their campaign promises.

Does it disturb you America had two terrible choices for President in the 2016 election and elected a President very few like because he was the lesser of two evils? Check out the graphs below and read the article. The political splits in the graphs are what America has been my whole life since the 1950s. Each political party wants us to believe their positions are the best, but once elected they rarely fulfill their campaign promises. They move to the middle to attract votes from Democrats, Independents and Republicans, then when elected they at once start raising money for a reelection. Our government at all levels has wasted our money plus given themselves benefits and privileges our average citizens don’t have.  A lot of the wasted money has gone for ridiculous pet projects in their districts. If a district wants a project, it should be willing to come up with the money to pay for it. Government waste has no political affiliation. The ideas in our capitols at any level have not been working for us. Instead they normally work best for the politicians and their financial supporters. Our elected officials have neglected us and have taken money from us forever. Their long term corruption and waste is one reason why a political maverick like Donald Trump was elected President. I have never liked him and still don’t, but I do like that he has brought complete chaos to politics as usual in D.C., and exposed issues the American public has never known about.  He calls it Draining the Swamp.

Now other citizens are exposing corruption and favoritism at other levels of government. The teachers across America are bringing chaos to state government. We should appreciate politicians at all levels and the news media being exposed for what they are. They are only interested in power and money. They sell their souls for campaign contributions and clicks. Pay to play laws are a joke. Everyone thinks lying to us is OK. The news media has shown politicians that spinning the truth is a very effective way to get money.  How did we get here? Our own indifference, and ignorance over 250 years has allowed politicians to create sneaky legislation none of us average Centrists understand. Unfortunately, this problem will not be corrected in only a few years. A good start is to stop automatically reelecting incumbents without reviewing their contributions to the benefit of us. No representative at any level should serve for more than two terms, because they get too much power and political support from the special interests, they give unfair advantage. If you are a part of the Centrist Silent Majority, you must start speaking with your vote and your voice. We can quickly provide our own term limits by refusing to vote for any incumbent who has not fulfilled their campaign promises or has served two terms. We could make it a law with a “Convention of States” amendment to our constitution. If we are duped into thinking a long serving politician brings advantage to us average folks, we need to learn long servings only gives the politician unfair advantages.

The news media at all levels has lost credibility and the number of people viewing their “news”. Politicians, attorneys and the news media hide behind the First Amendment, but spin is lying, libel and slander and not the intent of the First Amendment. News media at any level must financially support itself, and with today’s digital, cable and network news delivery model the shortcut to financial stability is deliver what a constituency wants to hear. Freedom of the press is something we must have to uncover problems in government but presenting lies and spin must be punished by turning the lying news outlet off. No advertising revenue equals no platform for lies. We may eventually find ways to create a cost to media outlets that spin the truth. Until that time we simply turn them off.

We the people does not mean what it was intended to mean by our founders. I believe in term limits for all elected officials at any level. I would go for a constitutional amendment limiting all elected officials at any level to eight to twelve years max for any office. Even that long gives them too much power. I helped a state get term limits, and now it is time to convene a Convention of States (Google it) to change the constitution. Soon America will belong to a naive and poorly educated in history generation. Please speak up and help them make things better not worse.

The Centrists have been called the Silent Majority, because they have not been as noisy as the extremists on the left and right. Centrists don’t want everyone to know what they are thinking. There are about 15% Socialists and 15% Fascists in the American population. Everyone else is really a centrist. We must make sure the extremists do not take over. Centrists may be registered as Democrats, Independents or Republicans, but they are fair Americans in their beliefs. Today it is The Silent Majority vs. the Noisy Minority. We should not listen to extremists.

Americans have never been by majority racist, homophobes, misogynists or xenophobes. Historically only a percentage of Americans have followed those ideologies.
